pokemon:solalon

Possibly the most natural-looking of the raptorian legendaries, size akin to a Megaraptor, Solalon's scales are a creamy white colour that suggests the warmth of sunlight. Like Psynateh, his plume is soft and flowing - though it falls naturally against his neck, tufts of it rising due to its simple light nature. His entire shape is luminescent, though this only becomes apparent during twilight or night, where he swiftly becomes a beacon in the darkness. His eyes have expressive whites, though the irides are merely hinted at - this gives him, of the legendaries, the most 'human' feel, though one should not mistake him for being a friend of the species (though of the legendaries, he is easily amongst the most human-friendly).

He is the leader of the legendary Council with Psynateh, and forms the pokémon counterpart to the Arbiter. His dominance in the Council comes from both his type-superiority (all other legendaries are dual-typed with Dark) and sheer strength - even for a human trainer equipped with properly typed moves to take him down, he'd be an opponent near-impossible to beat.

Personality

Solalon, under ordinary circumstances, is quite polite and respectful, tending towards formality even in situations when it is not strictly warranted, resulting in a natural air of authority.

He holds a very deep respect for his fellow Legendaries on the Council; he values their opinions highly, and will make an effort to listen to and address any of their concerns. This holds even for Crinyx, despite the fact that he very rarely agrees with him. As frustrating as having to deal with Crinyx's opposition might be, he recognizes – on a rational level at least – that it's necessary. Having an opposing viewpoint to challenge him ensures that the Council remains honest and fair, even if that's hardly Crinyx's intention.

Loyalties and Animosities in brief

Ordered roughly from positive to negative, Solalon…

  • …has a deep respect for his fellow Legendaries on the Council, and would not hesitate to aid them if they were in need. This includes Crinyx, even despite their frequent differences of opinion.
  • …considers Jagdish Tsukinaka a personal friend and an important ally, and often considers him almost like a seventh Council member when it comes to human affairs, in the extent to which he'll take his advice under consideration.
  • …has a generally high opinion of most pokémon, and will defend them unless he has good reason not to.
  • …respects all the gym leaders, though to various degrees, and considers them highly useful human allies, and will help them out in a pinch should they request it (and naturally expects them to do the same).
  • …has a begrudging respect for Dakarai N'Sehla, earned only after several years of painstaking effort.
  • …is somewhat concerned about Vendetta, largely due to the sheer amount of hatred he holds towards humans, and the fact that it spills over into their pokémon. Nonetheless, he trusts Jagdish to keep an eye on him and ensure he doesn't do anything too drastic.
  • …has a generally low opinion of humans in general, and tends to avoid interacting with them as much as possible, but he holds no particular resentment towards them.
  • …feels little more than disdain for pokémon trainers, and a particular loathing of those who make it through the gym circuit, but makes a great effort to not let that impact his decisions in the Council.

Descriptions from Sessions

Taken from Arsaga:

Detaching from the group of elementals is the slightly luminescent creature, enveloped in what seems to be an ethereal air, plume soft and seemingly so light that the soft breezes tug at it with ease. Pupil-less eyes latch onto Marcus as it approaches, striding around him in a circle as though perhaps sizing up a meal, wielding a grace that seems unusual for something of its proportions. Muzzle quizzically inclined, it pauses once to his right, slightly behind him, demeanour one of curiosity. Almost hesitantly, it raises its left paw toward his hair, sliding it through the strands to grab a hold of them relatively gently - before pressing the tip of its right forepaw's index claw against a spot against his scalp, the pinprick almost painful as it persists. Its glance seems to be lingering on the psychic pokémon now.

A strange sensation travels across Marcus' senses - it feels like a underbelly of a snake might be dragging itself across his mind, the sensation definitely sub-scalp, seemingly deeper than the bone of his skull, grazing that which should have no sense of touch itself. As the 'touch' finds the spot gestured to, it warps into the likeness of a hot needle, lancing through his mind, eliciting a wince - though it's fortunately a very brief pain, dissipating almost as swift as his senses have picked up on it in the first place.

The touch of his mind seems to recede, fading into nothingness, and the white-scaled, faintly luminescent raptorian lets go of his head, only a touch slower than would suggest it were the reflexive answer to being taken aback. Its muzzle moves in a nod and the circular stride resumes - it returning to the rest of the creatures sat at a distance, staring toward Marcus.
