The Kyza were the first group of people to settle on Sehto - and never numerous in population.

They ended up taking a strong linguistic deviation from the culture they'd budded from (quasi-African), something most obvious in their mythology and belief system. They lived on Sehto from 300 to the whereabouts of 800, when they came to have their land contested by Xhosa settlers that had followed their routes to discover Sehto a second time, and were regrettably quickly killed.

The current mainstream Sehto culture was seeded with Johto settlers starting in 1400 and subtly 'corrupted' by the Xhosa's African influences and the isolation of the island, ultimately budding in its own distinct culture that's continued its evolution ever since.

Sehto's second people were Xhosa, who superceded the
Kyza and lived and continue to live on Sehto from around 800. After obliterating the Kyza,
they were sole occupants of the island until around 1400, when Johto settlers came to the island - and
fortunately did not completely destroy the culture. These days, the Xhosa subculture of Sehto, while a
definite minority, can be said to be thriving alongside the mainstream Sehto attitude, in parts affecting
the way the island as a whole has developed …
